About The Two St James Trust

Our Purpose

The purpose of The Two St James Trust (the "Trust")' is to support evangelical work that is faithful to biblical teaching in Gerrards Cross & Fulmer, the surrounding areas and further afield. It is not limited geographically in its scope. It can own assets (typically buildings) for evangelical purposes and provide funds for evangelical work. Currently the Trust owns two houses in Gerrards Cross which are available for a discount to the market rent to the PCC of Saint James, Gerrards Cross & Fulmer for its staff. Both houses are currently rented for such purposes. There are ambitions to add to the portfolio to provide further housing for those in ministry in the local area.

Our History

Founded in 2006, the Trust  is a company limited by guarantee, registered in England & Wales (company number 05874412) and is also a registered charity (charity number 1117902). It is  run by four Trustees, who give their time voluntarily.

Funding

The Trust purchases properties with a combination of equity, which it receives as gifts from generous supporters, and a small amount of debt. The Trust rents these properties to the PCC of Saint James at a discount to the market rent, which covers the majority of its operating costs.

Our Goal

The goal of the Trust is to support evangelical ministry in South Bucks and beyond through the provision of property and to provide growth funds to support gospel ministry needs. The Trust exists in order to help meet this need.

We also believe it is helpful to separate the ownership of a property for ministry from the governance of the ministry occupying it at any given point in time. Property is a multi-generational asset, whereas ministries can ebb and flow. The Trust provides a safeguard against assets being used for purposes that aren’t aligned with its statement of faith.

Statement of faith

The  Trust is an evangelical Christian charity with the primary objective of providing premises for churches and other Christian charities and supporting evangelical work that is aligned with its own statement of faith. The statement can be downloaded by following the link below.

Our Prayer

Our prayer is that when a future generation looks back at the work of the Trust, they will give thanks to God for the support of evangelical work over the years and the provision of a broad set of properties which have been preserved for gospel ministry by successive generations of trustees and which have been bequeathed debt free.

Public Benefit

The purpose and goal noted above will be for the benefit of members of Saint James and for the wider public by promoting the Christian faith. The charity enables Gospel workers to share the good news of Jesus Christ with members of the public to better understand their purpose in life, from understanding the Bible‘s teaching and the peace with God that comes from trusting in Jesus Christ. The charity also supports Christians to exercise their rights to freedom of worship, association and expression for the good of society, demonstrating the importance of those freedoms.
